They are a fact of working life for most of us.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>(They are also the butt of pop culture jokes: remember &#8220;TPS Reports&#8221; from the classic 1999 movie Office Space? If you&#8217;re too young to remember that movie, go look it up on Netflix now. Hilarious!)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Reports are synonymous with the working grind.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It&#8217;s tedious, never-ending work that doesn&#8217;t really matter (or at least it feels that way). Basically it&#8217;s the opposite of the experience we all want!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here&#8217;s a crazy idea: Creating reports is *NOT* your job! (even if it is, you know, included in your job description).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Let me put it another way: Reports in themselves do not drive results. Responding to them and taking meaningful action based on reading them does.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I&#8217;ve seen reports kill a LOT of time and energy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Yet we are so accustomed to heavy reporting requirements that we rarely realize or question their necessity.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here&#8217;s my very strong hunch, based on my experience: within your company&#8217;s reporting requirements there ARE opportunities to improve, streamline, save time and energy!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Check the video for a few ideas of mine and share your own!
