How to make sure my team follows through on a goal I set?
A good start is to use S-M-A-R-T. It is such a relief for your team when you as a manufacturing leader set up a really clear definition of success.
You are inviting them to step forward and into it. But it’s not always that easy. When things don’t work, some blame their team or the tools.
But there are simple things you can do to set your team up for success.
The biggest obstacle is not knowing what to work on. When you clear that up by choosing a metric and a target, and you’re off to an excellent start.
Next, give them room to work on the problem — don’t over-steer or overload them. Let them figure out the how.
Give them the access they need, even if it seems like small stuff.
