LEAN vs SAFETY — do we have to pick?
It’s a common misconception that being Lean means doing things faster, which can lead to pressure, stress, and accidents.
In fact a Lean company is also a very safe company, with corresponding low rates of Lost Time Accidents, Incidents, and Reportables.
How is this possible? you might be wondering.
Doesn’t that sound too good to be true?
How can efficiency and safety co-exist?
I was delighted to meet an industry leader who perfectly summed up the symbiotic relationship that Lean and Safety share. Check out my video for what he had to say about it.
Please add your own experiences on Lean culture and Safety culture. Let’s spread this message that taking care of each other and doing things right does NOT mean sacrificing efficiency and good cost controls.
